Description:
The Scheduler/Backup Dispatcher plays a crucial role in coordinating route services for Gadabout Transportation Services Inc.
Reporting to the Executive Assistant and the Executive Director, they will frequently work independently, and must be able to carry out assigned duties with minimal supervision.
They must efficiently carry out assigned duties, demonstrating flexibility, strong communication, and organizational skills. Position may incur minimal overtime while learning, but is not expected to be excessive. 40 hours per week, with no weekends expected.
Hourly wage commensurate with experience.
Requirements:Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Using Gadabout’s scheduling software, QRydes, a customized scheduling software:
a. Schedule rides on Gadabout buses.
b. Suggest alternatives if unable to meet requests:
ii. Find and assign rides for passengers that need to be added on to an existing schedule, that weren’t ready at their original pickup time, or for some other reason.
iii. Triage telephone requests related to scheduled rides.
2. Schedule approved drivers:
a. Organize appropriate drivers for each schedule.
b. Call volunteer drivers to request their services as necessary.
c. Prepare schedule sheets for drivers.
d. Arrange substitutes for driver callouts.
3. Communicate with drivers by radio, phone, or on-board tablet to assist them with their schedules throughout the day.
a. Assist drivers with questions they may have regarding their schedules and while operating the service.
4. Keep records of individual rider requests, their status and need for assistance in using the Gadabout service.
5. Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to backup dispatcher, (OJT will be provided for dispatching).
Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with community and geographical locations.
2. Computer literacy.
3. Detail oriented
4. Communication and organizational skills
5. Ability to understand the needs of older adults and people with disabilities.
6. Previous scheduling and/or dispatching experience is helpful
7. Prior QRydes experience is helpful
